1. For women:

The set mundu and Kerala sarees flash across your mind when you think of women’s costumes for Onam.

The peculiarity of these traditional set sarees or set mundu is that you can find almost all women have draped themselves in one on the occasion of Onam.

These elegant sarees are usually white or off-white in colour with a thread of golden border that runs across the saree. These traditional Kerala sarees are clubbed with a golden colour blouse.

There is no particular colour code for these blouses. Usually, green and red are the colours that people choose for their blouses.

Accessorise yourself with some traditional jewellery that suits the color tone of your sari. Jhumkas and traditional elephant jewellery and temple designs are widely popular these days.

You can also choose antique jewels to blend in with your golden saris.

Braiding the hair:

During Onam, you can find that women braid their hair and attach jasmine flowers to it which adds a lot of colour to the traditional style.

Women prefer to leave their hair open and pin jasmine flowers to their hair. But, to avoid the heat you could tie up your hair in a bun and then attach a lot of jasmine flowers to it.

Teenagers love to drape themselves in half sarees. Also, you can customize these in colours of golden and white or choose silk dupattas for the saree part.

Pattu pavada blouse, half sarees and mundu blouse in white and golden colour form the best choices for girls.
